designer
Ashley Botten Design is seeking an experienced Designer to join our Toronto-based team. The ideal candidate is a creative, self-motivated and meticulous individual who is able to lead a strong team and act in a lead role for high-end residential design projects.
You will be involved in various aspects of projects from design development and facilitating the construction drawing package to construction administration. The successful candidate must demonstrate an enthusiasm for handling increasing levels of responsibility and be interested in developing their skills and growing along with the studio.
responsibilities
Lead the creative and conceptual stages of the design projects with ABD team and clients
Build lasting relations with clients, contractors, suppliers and our team
Creation of proposals, bidding and tender packages, construction documents and working budgets
Ensure projects are on track to meet project requirements, deadlines and budgets and participate in post-construction quality reviews
Collaborate seamlessly with our clients, as well as other designers, architects, contractors, fabricators, artisans, and developers on multiple projects.
Be responsible for material sourcing and specification, custom furniture design, visual research, furniture sourcing, graphic and visual presentations, in addition to maintaining budgets and project timelines.
Create project documentation including the submission of a full drawing set, specification writing, schedules, and construction administration
Create project documentation including the submission of budgets and FF&E proposals
Participate in project coordination, construction administration, site visits and maintain quality control during construction as needed
Collaborate with artists and artisans on custom works and projects
International travel required
qualifications
5-7 years of experience in interiors and a degree from an accredited school
Passion for design and an eye for detail
Experience in hospitality design projects
Knowledge of the full design process including concept, schematic, design development, construction documentation, construction administration, procurement, and installation.
High proficiency in AutoCad, SketchUP, Enscape, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite for in-house projects and to adapt those from collaborators as needed.
Exceptional graphics and presentation skills to communicate ideas including effective verbal and written skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to adapt to the daily needs of the design team
Familiarity with relevant design software and tools, as well as a willingness to stay updated on the latest advancements in both AI and interior design technology
AI enthused and interested in layering in our process to build excellent output and client experience
Familiarity with building codes and regulations
Elevated sourcing capabilities (to include artisanal pieces)

Ashley Botten Design is seeking a talented intermediate CAD Technologist to join our Toronto-based team. The ideal candidate is a creative, self-motivated and meticulous individual who is able to lead a strong team and act in a lead role for high-end residential design projects.
The successful candidate will support projects by taking ownership of Interior Design packages, developing them from 3D visuals to detail and construction documentation. You are a creative and innovative team player but are also self-driven and can work independently.
responsibilities
Develop layouts and construction documents from start to finish. Attend and actively participate in meetings and prepare necessary documents and schedules.
Work through the design development phase up to the construction administration phase, including some project administration.
Carry out site surveying, create working drawing sets, and millwork detailing when necessary
A problem solver; you have the ability to seek and innovate around ideas to support the design team with solutions to their design.
Ability to leverage your strong interest with material innovation and evolving technologies pertaining to design.

skills and experience
Diploma from a recognized architectural technologist program
Minimum 3 years experience as architectural associate/designer
Exceptional technical skills including knowledge of building codes, construction, and accessibility standards
Experience with high end multi-residential (a must), commercial retail interior design and hospitality design
Strength in millwork design details and the understanding of millwork construction
Good communication and time management skills are essential
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
