sublime drama
For a global financial office in Toronto’s TD Centre, we drew inspiration from its bespoke collection of contemporary art and the sublime beauty of Mies van der Rohe’s mid-century architecture. We played with proportions, light, shape and textures to create a comfortable and intentionally unstudied mood. Two conversation sofas designed exclusively for the project by abd are paired with wood and wicker tub chairs from an earlier era. We love details and how the soft contoured edge of our custom carpet meets the marble floor. A gem-shaped low table in dark walnut is incised with a geometric detail that is only visible closeup, and at the window’s edge, we designed a ten-legged bench with room for two to sit and enjoy the view.
